Gonzalo Higuain of Inter Miami has suggested Kylian Mbappe and Erling Haaland as potential Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo successors.
Messi and Ronaldo, two of the best players of the twenty-first century, are in their late 30s and nearing the end of their careers.
Mbappe and Haaland, according to Higuain, have all the potential to be worldwide superstars like Messi and Ronaldo. At a news conference, he stated: "Kylian Mbappe possesses all of the necessary traits. Because life is like that, I believe Leo and Cristiano will retire at some point, and Mbappe and Haaland will take their place."
Mbappe and Haaland, like Ronaldo and Messi, could play in La Liga in the near future.
Mbappe has been linked with a summer transfer to Real Madrid in 2022. The 23-year-old forward's contract with Paris Saint-Germain is set to expire in less than six months. He has yet to sign a contract extension with the Ligue 1 champions and is set to leave at the conclusion of the season.
In addition, Haaland is rumoured to be leaving his current club, Borussia Dortmund, in the summer. The 21-year-old forward has been linked with Real Madrid, Barcelona, and Manchester City, among other teams in Europe. It's possible that the two may face off in El Clasico derbies next season, as they represent Spain's two most powerful teams.
Mbappe and Haaland have already demonstrated that they have the potential to lead their teams in the future. Despite their youth, the two players are presently the top scorers for their respective clubs this season.
PSG's Mbappe has 24 goals in 34 games in all competitions, while Dortmund's Haaland has 23 goals in 20 appearances in all competitions.
